Last week, little man and I got to head on a date night with our friend Dana at BabyElan {Daily} and her son to check out Big Hero 6! Our little guys are best buds, but go to separate schools, so it was a fun surprise for them to see the movie together. Landyn had been talking and talking about it since seeing previews over the last few weeks so he could not WAIT for it to start!

Big Hero 6 - In Theaters Now!

Princesses and girly things have pretty much taken over this house with a tantrum filled, spoiled three year old around here, so it was nice to take the evening off from that night and enjoy my boy! You might remember my post about the importance of dating your kids a while back, and since school started, we haven’t done that in a while so this was a nice bonding experience for us.

The Plot

I went into this movie totally blind. I had NO clue what it was about and it’s definitely now what I expected… in a good way. What starts with tragedy, ends in triumph and I loved that we actually got to see how the superheroes were created in this movie. Normally, in movies the superhero is already formed and ready to battle and save the world. It was cool to see this group form from the beginning. My little guy laughed throughout (and may have even shed a few tears) and I really enjoyed it too!

What I Thought

I will say, there were a few parts that were pretty tragic for a kids movie. While one tragedy is what brought the heroes together and set us up for the whole plot of the movie, another wasn’t expected at all. I think it could be a bit tragic for a younger one to see, and while Landyn may have shed a tear or two, it ends up being one big happy ending altogether. I really feel like I can see these heroes taking over our hearts and turning into a big phenomenon for kids (and parents) alike! I love the bond we see grow between Baymax and Hiro and the connection it gives him to what he lost. (Trying not to give too much away here ;)) Take a peek and get acquainted with the characters who will warm your heart!

We’re hoping to check this movie out over Thanksgiving weekend. Moo has been talking my head off about it since she first saw the trailer for it.
