Tips for an Easy DIY Bathroom Makeover

A few weeks ago, you may have remembered me posting asking for ideas for easy ways to give a little fresher look to our master bathroom.

Bathroom Makeover Ideas from thebestcrowesnest Instagram

Between Facebook and Instagram, you guys gave me some great ideas! I took to Pinterest and started pinning my own little “Bathroom Redo Dream Board” for inspiration. I knew I wanted to do it on a minimal budget and without needing to do a ton of work. Trust me.. I could’ve gutted the entire thing with the ideas I had in my mind! My husband though? Not so much on the same page. He agreed to let me do a little freshening up in there if I agreed to not spend a lot of money and did the painting myself. I set out on a mission to go from drab to fab on a tight budget and with a lot of DIY handiwork from me and my husband.

3 Tips for Giving a Room a Makeover on a Budget

  1. Add a fresh coat of paint. Just painting the walls did WONDERS for this room! (See the before & after below.) I plan to give you guys a whole run down on choosing the perfect paint color for your room in another blog post, so stay tuned!
  2. Fretting up your fixtures can make a world of a difference. The fixtures in our shower were from the house was originally built, so swapping out the shower head for one of these awesome new Engage Magnetix showerheads by Moen upgraded our whole look in the shower without having to do any major adjustments.Tips for Giving Your Room a Makeover on a Budget
  3. Adding some pops of color with new area rugs. We had plain and simple rugs in front of our shower and bathtub before, but this time I decided to add some pops of color to compliment the paint on the walls. I normally try to stay pretty neutral in the bathroom, but Mohawk Home came to the rescue with exactly what I was hoping for! The Savannah by Mohawk Home is available exlusively at Bed, Bath, & Beyond!

Bathroom Makeover Before & After

Altogether, I am IN LOVE with our new fresh look! Everything came out just the way I imagined. The wall above the bathtub could’ve gone either way, but I was excited to see my vision came to fruition and it only cost me about $8.00 total for the wood to make it happen. Check out this before & after then I’ll give you a whole breakdown of the total cost below!

Stay tuned, because I’ll be sharing a few more bits and pieces about the whole room makeover along with tips on how to choose the perfect paint color, accessories, and decor too!

Total cost of project breakdown :

New Magnetic Showerheads by Moen

Cost of paint + materials = $50

Cost of new rugs = $90

Cost of Magnetix Showerhead = $160

Wood for Wall = $8

TOTAL COST = $308.00
