Star from Afar - Teaching Your Child about Jesus

When I came across the Star from Afar, I was so excited to check it out. The day it showed up my doorstep to share with you all, I could hardly wait to start it with my kids. Having three young kids and wanting to instill in them the story of Jesus and why we celebrate this season is so important to me. I want my kids to grow up thinking of Christmas a Jesus’ birthday and being thankful for the gifts he’s given, but I also want them to have the traditions and fun memories that I had growing up too.

Since my kids range from 7 months all the way to 6 years old, finding fun ways to incorporate the bible and the story of Jesus’ birth is the best way to really instill these values into their tiny little minds. Here’s how it works :

Star from Afar Game - How It Works

I set up our manger as a surprise for the kids and let them find it with excitement as we read the story and talked about why we celebrate this magical season. My kids dash around the house first thing in the morning to spot their star and are eager to move the traveling wisemen to their space.

The Christmas Star from Afar - An Intentional Tradition to Celebrate Christmas

The book showcases gorgeous illustrations with the story of the Star from Afar and how the wisemen followed the star each night to travel to greet baby Jesus on his birthday. My kids love playing with the manger and I feel good about them spending time playing with something so special. In the back of the storybook is a bible verse for each day of December you can read everyday too.
