Lent Pintables for Kids

With Lent starting tomorrow, I decided I wanted to come up with a way to have more conversations about this season with my kids. I’ve really tried over the last several years especially as my kids get older, to be more intentional with our time and conversations and the way we celebrate holidays.

A few years ago, I shared with you all about
The Story Egg™ by Star from Afar. You start this tradition on Palm Sunday and it’s a fun and interactive way to get your kids reading scripture and teaching them about the story of Easter.

This year, now that my oldest is about to turn ten, I really want to stress the importance of Lent and how it can really help us grow closer to God and be more intentional of our time. We will of course still read and use The Story Egg, but I’m excited to take that a little deeper and really dive into and have conversations about Lent and what we can give up and what we can do more of during this season.

I’ve put together some pintables you can use with your family too! I wanted the focus to be on prayer and time. Cut these pintables and put them in a basket and let your kids pull one each morning. While my kids range in ages from three to ten, I didn’t want them to have to give up one thing for six weeks. I don’t feel as though they’re old enough to be able to be responsible in making that decision, so I decided to go with these and each day they will either fast on something different, pray for someone, talk to God about how thankful they are, or read different bible chapters pertaining to how Jesus teaches us about things like how to be brave, about forgiveness, and more.

I would love it of your family would join us in this journey! Make sure you leave me a comment here and/or on Instagram and let me know what you think and how your family will be implanting this tradition into your routine this Easter season!
