I remember the days when I would bask in the sun for hours upon hours doing nothing but slathering myself with tanning oil every hour. I felt lucky to have skin that tanned so easily and never burned and never thought twice about the damage I was doing to my skin and potentially my health. Fast forward ten years later and now I have two small kids and more of a brain to know that was dumb. Cancer runs in my family. Granted, no one has had skin cancer (knock on wood,) but cancer nonetheless; and the one thing I’ve learned, it’s...

This is a sponsored post with One2One Network for Crest. All opinions expressed are my own.   Being a mom of two young kids, setting them up for healthy futures is one of my most important roles as their mom. I want to instill healthy habits on them now, so they stick with them as they get older. Proper oral care is a gateway to our health.. and that is something I never quite thought so much about until now. Dr. Travis Stork, Emmy nominated host of The Doctors and board-certified emergency medicine physician, has partnered with...

If there’s one thing my kiddos have gotten from their mama, it’s their love of performing! Little man belts out some songs like it’s nobody’s business and little sis is not far behind! I still remember when I got my first solo (in third grade) belting out “fiiiive smellllyyy stickkerrrrs!” like it was nobody’s business in our school version of “12 Days of Christmas.” Then in fifth grade, when my music teacher pulled me aside and said she spent weeks walking around the classroom to find...

UPDATE : I wanted to reiterate before you read the full article, this goes beyond comparing this image to a breastfeeding mom. With the way society thrives on sex and the image of being sexual, so many young girls grow up with 1.) unrealistic expectations of how they should look and 2.) that being sexy is put on a pedestal; as a way everyone should be. This is not...

Being a SAHM has it’s up’s and down’s. I love spending time with my kids everyday. I can’t imagine not having them home with me right now during their first and most precious year. But, having two kids at home with me makes one-on-one time hard. I try to take both kids on dates every now and then (although, admittedly I wish it happened a lot more often!) When a friend asked if I wanted to join her and her boys to see The LEGO Movie yesterday, I was excited to surprise LC! He’s going to be five in a few weeks,...

I had a scare today. Like, seriously something that fortunately wasn’t a HUGE deal, but a freaky wake up call nonetheless; and something that is making me WAY more aware of my world on the Internet and why I’m cracking down on my kids privacy on the blog too. When I got a notification that some guy liked a picture on my blog’s Facebook page, my first instinct was – AWESOME! Hey! I got a “like!” Liking pictures is a good way to show your support for pages and your friends.  My excitement quickly changed...

Having a daughter means many things. One of my favorites? Fashion. I love dressing up Lavery probably just as much (if not more) than she loves to get all dolled up too. I love to pick out adorable outfits with accessories to the nines and watching her prance around so proud. Among one of her favorite accessories? Shoes. Ever since she was a baby, she has loved shoes and she stands at the shoe closet banging on the door until you open for her to take her pick. Lately, her first choice are these adorable pink pom pom shoes from Stride Rite....

… SUPER LANDYN! Superheroes commence! We celebrated Landyn’s 4th birthday in style a few weeks ago. Spiderman was there, Batman, Wonder Woman, Superwoman, & Captain America, the birthday boy himself! Captain America’s baby sister even made an appearance! 😉 So before we get into anything else, let’s talk the details of how I pulled this “Super Landyn” party off! Luckily, it was gorgeous out. And I mean.. gorgeous! Like t shirt weather and the kids just had a blast running around in the backyard....

When Landyn asked for a Superhero party for this 4th birthday, I was so excited! I instantly turned to Pinterest for inspiration. I wondered how in the world I planned parties (or a wedding! AHH!) before Pinterest came around. Then…. I had to laugh, because the invitations I ended up making didn’t even come from Pinterest at all! I got some inspiration from bits and pieces, but then decided on my own idea. I’m a very “do-it-yourself” type of girl. Last year, I turned to Anders Ruff printables for LC’s...
